A ndrea Chiesi (born 1966 in Modena) lives and works in San Pancrazio di Modena, Italy.

Self-taught, he trained in the early 1980's in the punk and post-punk music scene as an illustrator and cartoonist. He is an "anthropological observer of the landscape" who seeks in the moment in which he creates a work to be in symbiosis with the space that goes to paint, often abandoned industrial spaces.

Oil paintings that allow him to go beyond the reality represented by reestablishing those places in an intimate world outside of time. This pictorial stage began in the late 1990s introducing him in the international art circuit Between his solo and group shows:

Sui generis, PAC, Milan (2000); 8/8, Villa delle Rose, GAM, Bologna; Pay attention, MAN, Nuoro (2001); Generazioni/2, Galleria Civica, Modena (2002); Prague Biennale I, National Gallery, Prague (2003); Melting Pop, Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena (2003); Anteprima, Centro d’Arte Contemporanea di Villa Manin, Passariano - Udine (2004); Clip’it, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2005);

"Chiesi gives shape to impermanence as he himself says, namely to the transience of our condition and consequently the fallen of what we have created. His spaces, while being real, are now out of time and space. They are metaphysical places. Places of reflection. Places of meditation. Places where peace and quiet emerge from the absence of human activity"
